If you ever wonder what goes on in my day-to-day life, you’re in for a treat.
I often include tidbits from my life while sharing workouts, recipes and playlists with you each week. However, I haven’t shared a lot about myself in quite some time.
Here’s a look at what I’ve been up to lately as a food blogger, fitness fanatic, college graduate and soon-to-be first-year law student . . . at the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law! Once a Gator, always a Gator! More details about law school to come, but for now, enjoy a peek into my life.
P.S. I got the idea for this list from Jessica at How Sweet It Is. She’s one of my favorite food bloggers and CRACKS me up. Seriously funny writing. She shares the widest array of recipes you’ll find on any food blog. From trashy to artisan, she’s got it all. Thank you Jessica for the idea and for always making me laugh.
Also, product links are affiliate links in this post. Thanks for supporting this blog so I can continue to bring you the content you want! 🙂
SO ADDICTING. No self control around these flavor-packed nuts. Good thing it takes so darn long to crack open just ONE. Keeps me from eating too many.
Lots of water from my Nalgene Tritan Wide Mouth Water Bottle and Assorted Herbal Teas.
It’s HOT outside in Florida, and it’s only getting hotter. Bring on the liquids! Here are some of my favorite teas:
Tazo Cocoa Mint Mate Tea (a.k.a. dessert)
Wild Sweet Orange (Decaf) Tazo Teas
Celestial Seasonings – Herbal Fruit Tea Sampler
I fell off the wagon and went to maybe five classes during my final semester at UF, but I’ve been practicing three to four times per week lately. I forgot how much faster I recover from tough workouts by simply stretching. It’s also fun to see the improvement in my balance and flexibility.
Although I love classes, I’ve been practicing on my own at home with YouTube videos and Nike Training Club (NTC) App workouts.
Most of the NTC sessions are 15 minutes in length, so they’re perfect to complete as a warm up or cool down after cardio and strength training. My favorites are Vinyasa Rush Studio and Solar Power.
My design skills.
I’ve come a looonng way since the start of this blog (i.e. blurry photos and horrible graphics/layout). However, I know I also have a long way to go.
I learned about general design principles, HTML, CSS and other things in my public relations visual communication class. I also had the opportunity to put them into practice with our final project and this blog. It was definitely one of the more practical courses I took as an undergrad. (Thanks Professor Tappan!)
I can’t afford the Adobe Creative Suite right now, so the following free design sites are my lifesavers. They make designing attractive blog graphics easy peasy.
Me in my freshman dorm room at UF
I’ve learned so much in school and from life in general in the past four years, so I’m taking a break from learning anything. I’ll have plenty on my plate come August with the start of law school, so relaxing is the name of the game right now.
To control my breathing during timed 2-mile runs.
I’ve never been a runner, so trying to control my breathing while maintaining a one-mile pace in the range of an 8:00 to 8:30 minutes is difficult.
I can’t say why I’m suddenly running 6 miles per week just yet, but I promise I’ll share more details soon. I’m SUPER excited to share the news. It’s been difficult keeping it a semi-secret for the past 2.5 months!
P.S. Does anyone have tips on how to up my pace and control my breathing more naturally while running?
New music. Specifically . . .
This album by Foster the People
. . . and this song by Sam Smith
These artists are ahead of the game with music right now, in my opinion. I give it two months before everyone is obsessing over them.
P.S. P.S. I pay $5 per month as a student to have access to a bazillion songs with zero ads. I have the ability to follow and make as many playlists as my heart desires. It’s TOTALLY worth the money. Ask for a Spotify Gift Card $30 (affiliate link!) for your b-day or a holiday. 🙂
My undergraduate career.
I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Public Relations May 3rd!
A few books. Specifically . . .
One L: The Turbulent True Story of a First Year at Harvard Law School.
Is it bad that I already understand how 1L’s feel because of my LSAT class? So much self doubt when your score doesn’t increase. . .
On a brighter note, I promise to reveal why I chose UF Law over law schools in the D.C. area soon. It’s related to the semi-secret I talked about with regards to why I’m suddenly a runner.
I’m also reading . . .
My high school years.
I can’t believe it’s been four years! My brother graduated earlier this month. I feel old but look younger than the baby bro, haha.
Frat tanks and Nike Pro Core Compression Shorts.
It’s summer peeps. Time to dress like a bum.
My brother and I both eat like horses, and I’m doing the majority of the grocery shopping and cooking.
Follow me on Instagram if you want to see more of my daily eats.
Get ready for some new recipes. 🙂
As a nanny.
I’ll be starting my job as a nanny for my two younger cousins June 30th just outside of Poughkeepsie, New York. I’ll be there until the beginning of August.
We’re spending time in Lake George and might be headed to the Hamptons. I’ve never been to the Hamptons, so I’m PUMPED!
Possibly to NYC and D.C.
I’m hoping I can work in a few weekend trips to NYC and Washington, D.C. via train while I’m up North. I have friends in both cities this summer and would love to visit this sandwich shop in NYC for the first time and buy cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcake again.
Trader Joe’s Sunflower Seed Butter
I bought a different brand at Whole Foods because we ran out of the supply that was supposed to get me through to next week when I’m in Gainesville for my brother’s freshman orientation.
Unfortunately, I have ZERO self control with nut butter and already devoured every last bit. Now I’m stuck with a jarful of sunflower seed butter that’s sub-par.
Haaaalp me survive until Wednesday.
